چکیده

W e report the case of a 71-year-old male patient with a history of heart transplantation 26 years previously. He presented with severe right-sided heart failure due primarily to high-grade tricuspid regurgitation (TR) caused by flail of the septal leaflet due to chordal rupture (Figures 1A to 1C, Online Video 1). Chordal rupture might have been due to multiple myocardial biopsies following heart transplantation for the assessment of transplant rejection. Because of the previous cardiac surgery, immunosuppression, chronic renal insufficiency, and severe chronic pulmonary disease, the patient was deemed inoperable by the heart team. So far there is no established interventional approach for the treatment of severe TR. A few patients have been treated successfully for secondary TR due to tricuspid annular dilation using the MitraClip system (Abbott Vascular, Santa Clara, California) (1). Here, for the first time, we report on the use of the MitraClip system for treatment of primary TR. The MitraClip device, introduced through the right femoral vein, was used to access the tricuspid valve. Transesophageal and transthoracic imaging was used

Simultaneous transfemoral transcatheter mitral and tricuspid valve edge-to-edge repair (using MitraClip system) completed by atrial septal defect occlusion in a surgically inoperable patient. First-in-human report

Transcatheter transfemoral mitral valve repair using the MitraClip system (Abbott Vascular, USA) is used in high-risk or inoperable patients with severe mitral regurgitation. We report the first-in-human simultaneous transfemoral clipping of the mitral and tricuspid valve completed by occlusion of an atrial septal defect (ASD). The procedure was performed in an 84-year-old patient in October 20...

Transcatheter treatment of severe tricuspid regurgitation with the MitraClip system.

AIM The aim of this study was to show technical principles and feasibility of transcatheter tricuspid valve repair by use of the MitraClip system. METHODS AND RESULTS Three consecutive patients were treated successfully for severe symptomatic Tricuspid regurgitation. Three-dimensional transoesophageal echocardiography confirmed reduction of measured effective regurgitant orifice in all patien...

Percutaneous Treatment of Mitral and Tricuspid Regurgitation in Heart Failure

Heart failure has become a real epidemic condition related to poor outcomes despite advances in medical therapies. Prevalence of significant mitral and/or tricuspid regurgitation is high in patients with advanced heart failure. Novel transcatheter techniques have recently emerged as a minimally invasive alternative in patients deemed high-risk for surgery or inoperable. Among them, MitraClip® s...
